Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara! (also known abbreviated as OUATIMD, and previously known as Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again) is an Indian crime gangster film directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. A sequel to the 2010 blockbuster film 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', the film will feature Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan in leading roles, and Sonali Bendre in a supporting role.
This is the third collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha as a pair, after their 2012 films Rowdy Rathore and Joker, and the first between Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan. The lead role was at first chosen to be played by Emraan Hashmi, who also appeared in the original film, but director Milan Luthria was searching for an older actor, and hence roped in Akshay Kumar, where he is supposedly playing the role based on real-life dreaded gangster, Dawood Ibrahim.
'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara!' is the story of an underworld don, Shohaib (Akshay Kumar), who killed his mentor in the past (Once Upon A Time In Mumbai) to gain power and rule the city, where now he is quite known as the mafia king. His control and command has spread right up to the Middle East, today. In short, the movie takes off from where the previous film ended with Shoaib Khan being the powerful don after assassinating his mentor, Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn).
Shoaib is now a flamboyant and a debonair man, who is being feared by everyone and respected by everybody. He is the charismatic and suave man with womanising skills who has extended his empire up to the Middle-east on the west.
Shohaib's only confidantes are his best friend Javed, who supervises his empire for him, and also his former lover Mumtaz (Sonali Bendre), who is although now his closest friend. He often visits the poor Muslim areas where he grew up and it is on one such visit that he meets the remarkable boy, Aslam (Imran Khan). He takes him under his wings and gradually Aslam turns out to be one of his favourites.
However, this crack between Shoaib and Aslam has now somehow resulted in the ultimate face-off between the mentor & protege. Earlier the film was supposed to release with Shah Rukh Khan starrer film 'ChenShohaib wants to gain full control over Bombay and thus very soon he encounters with conflict from two existing gang-lords - Vardha and Arun. Vardha and Arun join hands with a cop - Sreenu, whose only mission in life is finishing off Shohaib's supremacy, for which he happily joins hands with the gang-lords. While Bombay continues to be the object of their fancy, Shohaib stumbles upon a young film actress - Yasmin (Sonakshi Sinha). He is immediately taken away by her freshness, beauty and sincerity. Slowly, but surely his magnetism towards Yasmin goes onto becoming an obsession. In due time this passion, which takes the shape of obsession, leads to a rift between Shoaib and Aslam as they both vie for Yasminai Express', but the makers have shifted a week later to avoid clash.
